Prayer Take 17/40

Our church praying for 40 days for our Take It to the Streets Ministry. Each day will have a scripture reading, a list things to pray for and I will write a quick devotional thought from the day’s passage. The schedule is not original with us but is built off of YouVersion’s Bible App.

-Galatians 5:1

You and I

Those of us that have received Jesus as our Savior

Are Free

Free from Sin

Free from Death

Free from Judgement

We are no longer slaves to all of “sins messes”…

except for when we decide to be.  When we willfully choose to take the yoke of “sin” and wear it for a few days… a few months… or a few years.  This text tell us not to do that. There are many reasons why and here is the one for today…

When we live this way it ruins our testimony with the people who see or hear about the yoke we have chosen to carry around.  And no matter how we try to cover it up and make the yoke look better than it really is the people around us know what is going on and PR will not cover it up.

As we pray for our community and for God to show us how He would like us to reach it, the most important thing we can do is make sure we are not caring around yokes of sin on our shoulders…

yokes that would hinder the effectiveness of the gospel.

yokes that communicate to the lost… “there’s no difference here”

So today as you pray…

– Ask that God would deliver you and forgive you from your yoke (if you have one, if you don’t know ask Him to reveal it to you )

– Pray for your neighbors that God will continue to draw them to Him.  Pray for their salvation that they too will begin a relationship with Jesus and become free from their in-slavement to sin.

– Pray for a strong presence of God in your neighborhood

– Walk around your neighborhood tonight praying for each house and every trick or “treat-er.”

– Pray for Take 5.2 that the practices and planning will continue to be blessed by Him.

– Pray that we will effectively get the word out concerning this play and that the gospel will be clear on the nights we present it.

– Pray that God will show our church how He would like us to reach our community in the future.

Prayer Take 16/40

– Isaiah 50:10

Is there anyone you know, that lives in our neighborhood, or your neighborhood, that walks in darkness…

and you know it.

It’s not because you feel like they are, and it’s not because you don’t like them and it’s not because you are jealous of them but it is because  you know at the raw level of your very being that they live in darkness…

their life emanates it and it is obvious.

It may be the “christian” that lies, cheats, and stirs things up

It may be the one that’s always yelling, drinking and cussing

It may be the one that is just rude and righteous all the time.

It’s the ones that need Jesus… and it seems they have no clue of that need.

What do you do?

You pray for that one that “walks in darkness”, the ones that have “no light” and you ask God to intervene in their lives and bring them to a point where they will trust in God and rely on Him.

– Today ask God to give you the strength to obey Him

– Pray that the people you know that are in Darkness will find Jesus, “grab His hand” and began a new life of walking in the light of our Savior.

– Pray for your neighbors that cause difficulties in your neighborhood (and even in your church) that they would allow Jesus to rescue them from that.

– Pray for Take 5.2 that people will be very receptive to buying the tickets that support the school and will be there for the show.

– Pray for Take 5.2 as the cast continues to memorize their lines, that it will come with ease and they will not forget them especially the nights of the show.

– Pray that we will see people come to know Christ as a result of this program this year and that we will see people join our church.

Prayer Take 15/40

Our church praying for 40 days for our Take It to the Streets Ministry.  Each day will have a scripture reading, a list things to pray for and I will write a quick devotional thought from the day’s passage.  The schedule is not original with us but is built off of YouVersion’s Bible App.

– Romans 12:14-16

Another way of putting these verses is this…

“Learn to do good, seek justice, correct oppression, bring justice to the fatherless and plead the widow’s case.” Isaiah 1:17

I think the desire of our church is to do good and reach the community for Christ.  I could be wrong of course, but in this case I do not think I am…. and if I am it would break my heart.

It is important for our church to find ways we can minister effectively to our neighbors.  To go to them, to reach out to them, to let them know we care.

We need to be known for this, not because we are trying to put up a political front and look good  but because  we represent Jesus to the people we live around.

So we Bless mean people and leave them to God to deal with.

We rejoice with the victories and successes our neighbors experience.

We weep with our neighbors in the times they lose.

We view our selves as servants sent by God to each other and the people around us…

and with that attitude our reputation will be what it should be for we will be…

“Jesus to the World”

– So today pray for your neighbors who are mourning the loss of a loved one, either recently or in the past few years.

– Pray for the people in our church who have lost a love one

– Pray for those who are struggling with loneliness and depression as a result of their loss.

– Ask God to show you how you can encourage those around you.

– Davie county has a high suicide rate – lets pray for all of those who are so down that they are considering taking their life that God would draw them to our church where they will find the love of a Savior demonstrated through His people.

– Pray for Take 5.2 that the many will come and will receive the message of the gospel.

– Pray for Take 5.2 that stress in accomplishing it will remain low and things will run smoothly.

– Pray for Take 5.2 for protection from the evil one.

Prayer Take 14/40

This is the start of our church praying for 40 days for our Take It to the Streets Ministry.  Each day will have a scripture reading, a list things to pray for and I will write a quick devotional thought from the day’s passage.  The schedule is not original with us but is built off of YouVersion’s Bible App.

-Romans 12:9-13

Be constant in prayer…

Constant – don’t stop keep doing it. Persist in it….

continue in the same direction in the same habit of it…

Don’t stop.

It is easy to stop praying

It is easy to negate it.

Don’t do that!  Stay with it, persist in it…

Don’t Stop.

You need it, our community needs it and our church needs it.  For it taps into the power of God and accesses His will and His way.

Prayer changes things.

– So today ask God to help you develop a “habit” of prayer and ask Him to help our church (the people in it) to develop in their lives a healthy constant prayer life.

– Pray that God will keep you genuine in your love for others, that He will convict you when you begin to fake it and encourage you when you don’t.

– Pray that God will open up opportunities for you to show hospitality toward your neighbors.

– Pray for those on your street that feel lonely, especially those who are sick and unable to leave their houses.

– Pray for our church that God will draw people to Himself and lives will change.

– Pray for Take 5.2, for the actors and the workers.

– Pray for Take 5.2 that God will begin to work to bring people to that performance to here the gospel.

Don’t forget to comment below “I prayed” to encourage others as we continue wit this 40 days of prayer.

– Hebrews 12:2

It is sometimes a struggle for us to know exactly what and how we should pray for our community.  We are not assuming that just because we are praying that everything in our community will get better…

for sometimes even when people are praying things get much worse.

Just ask Jesus…

Who prayed many times while He was ministering here on the earth only to have some of the people He prayed for nail Him to a cross.

What if our praying lead to more hardship?

It’s not what we desire, it isn’t what we want but it could happen.

What would we do then?

Well, we would do what we are doing now… we would fix our eyes on Jesus and stay faithful to Him  in order to see God’s will accomplished…

and that means enduring or enjoying whatever may come as a result of His will unfolding before our eyes.

– Today pray that “whatever” may come our church will stay faithful to Christ, His mission and His Word.

– Pray making a commitment to Christ to fix you eyes on Him

– Pray for your neighborhood with any request God lays on your heart concerning your neighbors and friends.

– Today is Take 13! Pray that we reach many people as we travel to their neighborhoods, giving out candy and inviting them to church.

Romans 12:1-2

I want to discern what the will of God is for our community.

I want to know what the will of God is for our church… specifically what He desires for us to do, to reach people with the gospel.

And I know you do too, or you would not have made the commitment to pray for these 40 Days.

To discern what the will of God is,( “what is good, acceptable and perfect”) we must surrender to Him to the point we open ourselves up to Jesus…

allowing Him to  mold us into what we need to be.

Yes, we must surrender and allow Him to change the way we think and the way we live.

We surrender to Him to be conformed to the way He desires for us to be.

The fact is we are all conforming to something…

Its either the world

or

Jesus.

So today lets take a moment and pray for our own spiritual walk.  Lets take sometime today to say to God…

“Lord, I surrender my heart, my mind and my life to You.”

And that will do a lot more than you might think in the task of reaching our community.

So…

– Pray over and over today “Lord, I surrender my heart, my mind and my life to You.”

– Pray that God will show you what his will is concerning how we need to reach people with the gospel.

– Pray for revival.

– Pray for Take 5.2 – as we prepare to give the gospel to our community this Christmas Season

– Pray for Take 13 – our Traveling Trunk or Treat that we will be able to make positive contacts in our community and see people not only come to our church as a result of that connection but also see many come to know Jesus as their Savior.
