I wish it was that easy…

Have you ever asked the question…

“Should I stay here or should I go”?

Maybe you have asked it concerning your job

Maybe you have asked it concerning your church

Maybe you have asked it concerning the school your child is attending

Maybe you’ve asked it for another reason.

This came to my mind today as I read this passage of scripture…

Numbers 9:15-23
“On the day the tabernacle, the Tent of the Testimony, was set up, the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire.

That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.

Whenever the cloud lifted from above the Tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.

At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp.

When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order and did not set out.

Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle only a few days; at the Lord’s command they would encamp, and then at his command they would set out.

Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out.

Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out.

At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.”

Don’t you wish it was that easy?

Wouldn’t it be great if we all lived with “personal clouds” that only we could see?

Picture that a moment

Your cloud is over your job (you may prefer the fire) and one day it moved signaling that God wanted you to leave, it was time for you to work somewhere else

You go to church one Sunday and notice your cloud has moved to the edge of the parking lot signaling it’s time to go.

Your cloud begins to move one day when you drop your child off at school or daycare, showing it’s time for your kid to be somewhere else…

It’s time to move on.

Wouldn’t that be easy?

It would…

But did you know that these people, the jews, who moved every time the cloud moved and followed it to where it lead them…

all died in the wilderness?

Because even though they had a cloud and could follow Him where He wanted them to go locationally, they had trouble following…

where He wanted them to be morally.

This tells us, that at the end of the day what really matters in life is if we are following the written word of God to the best of our ability.

For you can be in the right place… with the wrong heart.

I wish following God morally was as easy as following Him locationally.

But if I am going to be out of sorts with one of these… I pray that my location is wrong…

not my heart.
